Next-Gen Central Office (NGCO) presents the concept of unified edge NFVi (NFV infrastructure) converging both fixed-line and mobile traffic management, leveraging virtualization technology and cloud-based computing architecture. For optimal performance, NGCO is usually deployed between the Radio Access Network (RAN) and Central Core Cloud, and functions as a carrier-grade edge NFV data center to execute customizable footprint and VNFs. The NGCO is considered as a cloud-native, virtualized edge to run VNFs, SDN (and its derivatives), C-RAN and open source software onto a standardized Intel x86 white-box hardware.

According to global level researches, the mobile network traffic will reach new milestones in the next 5 years, including nearly 77 exabytes by 2022 and 90% of the mobile data will be generated by smarthphones. In fact, consumption of video contents will take nearly three-fourth of the mobile data traffic around that time in near future.

Taipei, Taiwan – Sept 3, 2019 - In recent years, SD-WAN, NFV and MEC have formed the critical foundations of future 5G infrastructure as these open compute, virtualization technologies offer agile and flexible service delivery for service operators. Meanwhile, Lanner, with long dedications in network computing and security, founded its Telecom Applications BU to further penetrate the vertical markets for network virtualization applications. With dedicated efforts, Lanner has successfully forged partnerships with multiple world-leading telecom operators.

Lanner joins the OCP Community to Leverage its Innovation in High Availability, Hyper-converged Network Appliances, and Facilitate the Rollout of Next-Generation 5G Applications

Taipei, Taiwan – Sept 3, 2019 – Lanner Electronics, Inc. (www.LannerInc.com), the world’s leader in customizable SDN and NFV network appliances and uCPE/vCPE Whitebox Solutions™, announced today its participation as Community Member of the Open Compute Project (OCP), an open consortium aiming to design and enable the delivery of the most efficient server, storage, and data center hardware for scalable computing. Lanner continues to play an important role in influential industry forums, such as the Telecom Council and OCP, contributing Lanner’s expertise in developing carrier-grade network platforms for 5G Cloud-RAN, Mobile Edge Computing, and Hyper Converged Infrastructure.

As 2020 is anticipated to be the year of 5G introduction, ITRT (Industrial Technology Research Institute) in Taiwan has formed multiple partnerships with 18 leading network hardware vendors to establish a 5G ecosystem, mainly targeting on the domestic supply-chain and establishment of data center infrastructures. Lanner Electronics Inc., on the other hand, has been an industry leader in network computing and information security, and with long expertise, Lanner founded its Telecommunication Application Division to further penetrate the vertical markets of 5G, SDN, and NFV.

Multi-access edge computing (MEC) is no doubt one of the key foundations of future 5G network. In fact, MEC has already driven a paradigm shift in how telecommunication service and network computing are provided to users.
