Lanner today introduced the N2S-IPU01, a smart NIC powered by Intel Atom® Processor P5742 (codenamed Phantom Lake) and is based on Lanner’s N2S form factor.

Smart NICs such as the N2S-IPU01 aim to offload, accelerate and secure datacenter infrastructure services so that CPUs and GPUs are more readily available for running and processing large volumes of workloads such as AI-intensive tasks.

In terms of I/O, the N2S-IPU01 comes with 1x console port, 2x USB 3.0 ports, 1 GbE RJ45 port and 1x 100GbE QSFP28 port (SKU A) or 4x 25GbE SFP28 ports (SKU B).

The N2S-IPU01 also features hardware acceleration for carrying out network security tasks such as encryption, decryption, compression, decompression and packet inspection, freeing up CPU for other tasks.
