The FX-3000 Series
At this year's VMworld, Lanner will be showcasing its FX-3000 Series.
Applialnces from the FX-3000 Series, namely the FX-3220, the FX-3411 and the FX-3710, combine storage and network processing capabilities, offering solutions for log management, SAN, compliance reporting, real-time monitoring, event and incident management.
All three cloud storage appliances are based on the "Romley" platform and built with Intel's Sandy Bridge-EP/Ivy Bridge CPU. They differ, however, in physical dimension, storage capability and I/O interface.
While the FX-3220 is a 2U rackmount appliance, the FX-3411 and the FX-3710 are both 3U. The FX-3220 supports up to 4 3.5” SAS/SATA HDD drive bays and 16 GbE RJ45/SFP ports or 8 SFP+ ports; the FX-3411, on the other hand, supports up to 12 3.5” SAS/SATA HDD drive bays and 16 copper GbE ports or 8 SFP+ ports. Last but certainly not least, the FX-3710 can be configured with a maximum of 20 2.5” SATA/SAS HDD drive bays and up to 6 PCI-E FHHL cards.
Also notable is the fact that the FX-3220 and the FX-3411 are variants of the FW-8895, a high performance network security appliance for intrusion detection and prevention; both variants are impproved with advanced features meant for cloud storage.
Live Demo
SNV, or Secure Network Virtualization, is the focus for Lanner's live demo at this year's VMworld. The live demo, to be set up using the FX-3710, will demonstarte how secure networking within virtualized infrastructures can be enabled; this is to bring attention to the importance of establishing an efficient and secure network virtualization for virtualized environments such as data centers or enterprise networks.
