Monitoring distributed industrial operations architectures, such as Oil/Gas, Mining, Utilities, or Water/WasteWater is a complex task. Collecting data from these geographically distributed operations is often done through costly SCADA infrastructure, which tends to be limited. Distributed operations need more access to bandwidth, security, and reliability than traditional SCADA communications can’t provide.

Kepware’s ThingWorx Kepware Edge helps reduce connectivity costs within the IoT landscape and SCADA for such distributed architectures. It employs secure IoT protocols such as OPC UA or MQTT to connect distributed assets to the edge computing gateways and through them to the cloud.

Lanner provides the hardware where ThingWorx Kepware Edge can be deployed. Lanner’s x86 Industrial edge gateways such as LEC-3034 or LEC-7242 are purpose-built appliances built to endure harsh industrial environment conditions, while providing the necessary processing for edge analytics and networking needs to handle data collection and communication.
