By taking space limitations into considerations, Lanner has developed several network appliance models with short-depth design, only within 320mm(12”). The short-depth physical dimension allows these appliances to be easily installed and deployed in small cabinets, limited communication rack spaces or even in small-and-medium enterprise environments. Despite its compact size, these models feature high-throughput, extreme performances and high-port density for network bandwidth, virtualization capability and high port counts, ideal for telecommunications, SDN and virtualization applications.

With the trend of automation, the demand for efficient power equipments is increasing by multiples. Communication management is one of the main concerns of automation as it often attracts cyber threats. To enhance communication and cyber security in automation, Lanner introduces the industrial-grade, rackmount Box PC LEC-3231, designed for power substation deployment. The rugged, fanless box PC is driven by processor choices of Intel Celeron 847E, Core i3-3217UE or Core i7-3517UE, depending on the SKU selected, and also supports up to 10 isolated COM ports, 8 magnetic isolated LAN ports, and redundant power supplies. To function as a safe and secured platform, LEC-3231 is compliant with IEC 61850-3 and IEEE 1613 for the energy sector.

To meet the growing demands of next-generation datacenter, enterprise, virtualized workstations, SDN, NFV and public cloud, Lanner will adopt Intel’s latest server-based 14nm micro-architecture Xeon® E5-2600 v4 family processors with C612 PCH, codenamed Broadwell-EP. The recent adoption will apply on Lanner’s network appliances FW-8896, FW-8894 and NCA-5510, which are currently driven by Intel® Xeon® E5-2600 v3 family processors (codenamed Haswell-EP). The upgrades from Haswell-EP to Broadwell-EP will bring several technological enhancements including core numbers, ultra memories and cache, turbo-up performance and wide compatibility.

Since the beginning of industry 4.0, the increased networking of automation system in critical infrastructure has been frequently the main targets for advanced cyber crime, which can highly devastate reliability and serviceability of utility service and production. In fact, as most of the security measures for ICS (Industrial Control System) and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system today are still traditional against modern attacks, there is an urgent need for more comprehensive, multi-layer network security solutions in order to ensure secured communications in industrial networks.

The trend of cloud computing presents an opportunity to replace physical CPE (Customer Premises Equipment) with virtualized, software-defined CPE in order to establish flexible branch-to-cloud connections. Over the past few years in the industry, many enterprises have implemented virtual branch network by focusing on virtualized network services. In other words, virtual machines are replacing physical equipments to assure branch network connectivity while saving hardware costs. Therefore, Lanner has launched its next-generation desktop appliance FW-7526 featuring Intel Atom C2358/C2518 CPU, Intel QuickAssist Crypto Acceleration, 4 x RJ-45 GbE, 2 x SFP GbE, LAN bypass, Intel AES-NI and up to 16GB DDR3 memory.

With the demands of computing-intensive and video processing capabilities in the server domain, Lanner has released its high-performance video transport card NCS2-VT02A in NIC module form factor, driven by Intel Xeon E3-1515 v5 CPU (codenamed Skylake) and CM236 chipset. The card supports 4K ultra-HD resolution and H.265 compression and is designed with Intel® Iris™ Pro GT4e graphics to deliver high resolution image-processing and compression for video convergence demands. The card will serve as expansion module for Lanner’s network computing appliances.
