Today Lanner Electronics Inc. launched the very first product of the brand new FX-3000 Series, the FX-3210.

The FX-3000 series offers network appliances that are especially designed for challenging security system management requirements. By combining storage and high-end network processing capabilities in an appliance, the FX-3000 Series is the ideal platform for log management, SAN, compliance reporting, event management, real-time monitoring and incident management.

The FX-3210, a high port density 2U network appliance, is compatible with both the Intel® Sandy Bridge® processor and Intel’s newest server grade processor (codenamed Ivy Bridge). The FX-3210 comes with the Intel® C206 series chipset (codenamed Cougar Point) and supports a maximum of 16GB system memory, making it a mainstream platform for enterprise level solutions.

“The FX-3210 uses the latest server-grade Intel® architecture and the most cutting edge chipset ” said Jesse Chiang, Lanner’s Executive Product Planner.

“When coupled with the Intel® C206 chipset, the highly integrated Intel® Xeon® E3 family processor delivers significant improvements in energy efficiency, performance and manageability over the previous generation of Intel Xeon processors, making the FX-3210 one of Lanner’s most extreme 2U rackmount systems”The FX-3210 comes with four onboard LAN ports and two pairs of Generation 3 bypass. Lanner’s engineers created Generation 3 bypass, a technology that allows control over bypass functionality even when the hardware is in a powering on/off stage. The aforementioned 2 pairs of bypass run on dual Intel i350 controllers. IPMI via OPMA for remote management access is also possible by way of another LAN port (a RJ-45 GbE), known as the Management Port.

In addition to the four standard LAN ports, the FX-3210 has the option of being fitted with two Lanner Ethernet modules, increasing the number of Ethernet ports to a maximum of 20, each with speed up to 1GbE.

Other features of the FX-3210 include four 3.5” HDD bays for large capacity storage, one Compact Flash Type II socket and two PCI-E*8 (via one PCI-E*4 signal) for expansion purposes. Also available are one RJ-45 Console port, two USB 2.0 ports, one 2 x 20 LCM, watchdog, internal RTC and 350W redundant power supply.

Finally, the FX-3210 has optional RAID support by way of PCI-E slots. The following LSI RAID controllers are currently being fine tuned to work with the FX-3210, each with its key advantages in various applications such as workstations, servers, storage connectivity, and data protection: MegaRAID SAS 9240-4i, LSI SAS 9211-4i and MegaRAID SAS 9260-4i.
