As the New Year 2020 is around the corner, we would like to thank our partners for the wonderful journeys in our collaborative projects in 2019. The year of 2019 had been the crucial year of edge computing, as we witnessed the network disaggregation, virtualization and workload consolidation, which have all accelerated edge computing in enterprise networking, telecommunications and Industrial IoT.

Lanner Empowered Verizon uCPE 2.0 Program

For the past three years we have seen the wide adoption of SD-WAN, which leverages white box vCPE and multiple VNF software for service agility and cost-efficiency. This year we have reached a milestone, announcing our collaboration with Verizon to roll out uCPE program 2.0which has demonstrated the paradigm shift with open platform to disaggregate VNFs from the physical hardware. Lanner’s modular NCA-1515 aggregates LTE and WiFi connectivity to meet "Zero Touch" provisioning and the future-proof scalability to significantly reduce the OPEX while improving business competitiveness with scalable SD-WAN deployment.

Network Disaggregated in Edge Cloud

We have also observed another new disaggregated networking approach in mobile edge computing, which indicates advanced network applications such as High-density VideoContent Delivery, virtual Broadband Network Gateway (vBNG) and virtual Carrier-grade NAT (vCGNAT), used to reside in the Core Network data center, but has now relocated to the edge central office or data center where Whitebox MEC servers integrate computing, switching and storage in a single appliance for low latency communications.

Workload and Connectivity Consolidations

For Industrial IoT, consolidation is the key. Aggregated equipment from various vendors and system integrators results in accumulated OPEX and CAPEX for management and maintenance. By leveraging the latest virtualization technology, in the year 2019, Lanner has successfully demonstrated the several use cases of consolidating vertical application software in one single industrial PC deployed in intelligent bus, substation automation and smart factory.

Network communications have been also virtualized and integrated in mobile settings, such as maritime transport and emergency service vehicles , for security, remote management and satellite and LTE failover connectivity.

Thank you again for your continued business and we will continue to be your dedicated partner in the New Year and beyond.
