Today sees the release of the FX-3710, a high-performance 3U rackmount cloud storage appliance that features Intel's Sandy Bridge-EP/Ivy Bridge CPUs (codenamed “Romley”) with 10 cores of processing power and two mainboards powered by Intel's Xeon processor E5-2600 series.

Cloud-based storage is an increasing necessity for today’s businesses and telecommunications needs. Lanner’s FX-3710 is introduced as an answer to the demand for secure, high-capacity storage appliances that support high data transfer bandwidth. For storage and networking the FX-3710 features up to twenty 2.5”SATA/SAS HDD drive bays and six PCI-E FHHL cards, offering impressive storage capacity in a single unit.

Each of the dual mainboards supports up to 512GB of Quad-channel DDR3 1066/1333/1600 MHz memory. There are six front-facing PCI-E slots for expandability and one standard IPMI port is available for remote management and configuration. What’s more, the FX-3710 can be customized with Intel’s DH8910 security acceleration processor for handling computation-expensive encryption and other security measures.

Other features of the FX-3710 include 2N+1 power supplies with individual connection to power source, Intel i210AT LAN controller, ECC memory technology for automatic memory corruption correction and a form factor measured at 438 x 132 x 750 mm and 35kg.

At this year's VMworld, taking place from August 24th to August 28th at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, Lanner will highlight the FX-3710’s hardware capabilities via a Secure Network Virtualization live demo in order to not only demonstrate how secure networking within virtualized infrastructures can be enabled but also to bring attention to the importance of establishing an efficient and secure network virtualization for virtualized environments such as data centers or enterprise networks.
