Background 

Segment Routing IPv6 (SRv6) is a next-generation IP transport protocol, that utilizes existing IPv6 standard specifications to implement a network programming framework through flexible IPv6 extension headers. Leveraging SRv6 simplifies network protocol types to feature better extensibility and programmability, providing high reliability and offering new cloud service application potential. SRv6 is most suitable for cross-domain interconnection, large-scale networking, service cloudification, and cloud-network synergy.  

P4-programmable switch with managing software at core networks as service proxy, combined with SRv6 technology can offer firewall, DDoS, and CG-NAT services, which is essential for deploying large-scale Software Defined Network (SDN) for 5G. Especially suitable to ensure Quality of Service (QoS) for 4K and 8K streaming IP video.

MEC Platforms for SRv6 Segment Routing 

Lanner collaborates with NoviFlow and Bell Canada to build the MEC platform that enables SRv6 service chaining at the Edge. The consolidated MEC server features multi-node compute blades and P4-programmable switches to enable SRv6 segment routing with combined network security, load balancing, and CGNAT function.

HTCA-E400 supports 5x 1U compute sleds or 2x 2U+1U compute sleds, designed to support FPGA, GPU or Time Sync cards, making it suitable as an Edge AI server for Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) servers, 5G Edge Cloud, and Central Units (CU) Open RAN platforms.  

The HLM-E110 switch blade provides fabric interface with 6x 100GbE QSFP28, and 8x 10/25GbE SFP+ with Intel® Tofino Series switch controller. The switch blade significantly boosts programmable hardware performance for 5G MEC infrastructure.
