The announcement today of the next generation Intel® Atom™ C2000 processor family from Intel is exciting news for Lanner, as the targeted networking performance of this new processor is perfectly fitted for use in network and communications devices, offering excellent packet processing performance with strong gains in energy efficiency. Lanner has designed three new products to take advantage of the gains achieved by this new series of Intel Atom SoCs.

The FW-7551 is a network appliance with a desktop form factor, based on a dual core Intel Atom processor C2000 SoC with 6 GbE ports, customizable with up to 8 cores, and including PCI-E x 8 golden finger. RAM is expandable up to 8 GB on 1333/1600 MHz DIMM (DDR3). With Intel® QuickAssist technology and ECC Memory support, the FW-7551 brings features formerly associated with higher-end networking devices into a more cost-conscious bracket. With optional support for 3 pairs of 2nd Generation LAN bypass ports and 1 2.5” SSD or HDD units, the FW-7551 is a capable device at a competitive price.

For deployment in datacenters and server rooms, the FW-7571 is the rack-mountable version of the FW-7551, offering the same performance and features in a 1U-high standard 19” rack form factor, and a choice of one 2.5” SSD/HDD bay, one 3.5” SSD/HDD bay, or two 2.5” SSD/HDD bays. For extra interface options, the FW-7573 offers all the features of theFW-7571, plus a NIC module bay and a 2 x 12 character LCD module for fast system status and troubleshooting. As a mid-range network appliance with excellent data processing capabilities, the FW-7573 is well suited for deployment in traffic-intensive environments.

Terence Chou, Senior Director of Network Computing at Lanner, said “the FW-7571 is the successor to the FW-7568, and provides choice for customers who need excellent performance with an SoC (System-On-Chip) setup. The FW-7571 and FW-7573 use the Intel® Atom™ C2000 processor family, equipped with features designed specifically for entry-level communications platforms. The FW-7573 is positioned as a 1U rackmount network appliance with DDR3 Memory support and a NIC expansion module for future upgrades and scalability. Its energy efficiency is ideal for entry level to mid-range datacenter applications.”

All three products will be on show at the Intel Developer Forum in San Francisco (10-12 September) as well as the Lanner Network Architecture Seminar in Santa Clara on September 25 2013.
