Lanner launches a 945GM based Network Security Appliance
The Lanner FW-7876 offers security providers increased system performance coupled with long and short term and cost savings

(Taipei, Taiwan – April 11, 2007) Lanner Electronics Inc, a leading designer and manufacturer of network security hardware, announced today the FW-7876, a 945GM based network security appliance supporting Intel® Core 2 Duo™ processors. This addition to Lanner's industry leading range of network appliances allows security providers to deliver increased network system performance while simultaneously reducing heat and noise.
"As corporations grow astute to the costs of power-hungry servers and IT equipment, security vendors are faced with the challenge of delivering faster and more feature rich appliances whilst simultaneously reducing system power consumption," explained Mario Tsui, Lanner Network Appliance Product Planner. "Lanner’s FW-7876 enables security vendors to overcome these challenges by delivering greater processor performance, reduced energy consumption and a lower unit price compared to previous generation appliances."
Based on Intel's long-life span embedded 945GM and ICH7R, the Lanner FW-7876 supports a wide range of embedded processors including the Intel Core 2 Duo, Core Duo™, Core Solo™, Celeron™ M, LV and ULV processors. By coupling the FW-7876 with Intel's Core 2 Duo, security vendors can make use of advanced Intel Virtualization technology and 64-bit execution code.
Featuring 6 Gigabit network ports with two pairs supporting fail-over by-pass, the FW-7876 is suitable for a range of network security and management applications, including: Unified Threat Management, Firewall, VPN, IDS, IPS, Content Filtering, Bandwidth Management, Anit-virus Gateway, and much more.
